Indra Sukta - The Invocation of Supreme Power and Order

yo jātaḥ prathamanaskavāndevo devānkratunā paryabhūṣat । yasya śuṣkādrodasī abhyasetāṃ nṛmnasya mahnā sa janasa indraḥ ॥

He who, being born first, endowed with mind, as a deity surpassed the other deities through his power; at whose greatness the two worlds (heaven and earth) tremble out of fear of his might—he, O men, is Indra.

Indra is introduced as the primordial, conscious force of the universe who naturally assumes supremacy over all cosmic powers through his divine intelligence and overwhelming strength.

yaḥ pṛthvīṃ vyathamānāmadṛṃhadyapabbatānpropukitāṃ ramayat । yo antarikṣaṃ vimame variyyo yo dyāmastabhnātsa janasa indraḥ ॥

He who made the trembling earth firm, who set at rest the agitated mountains, who measured out the vast middle region (atmosphere), and who supported the sky—he, O men, is Indra.

Indra brings stability to a chaotic, shifting universe. He grounds the earth, calms the mountains, and props up the heavens, acting as the supreme architect of physical stability.
