The Gathering of the Waters and Sacrificial Consecration

devasya tvā savituḥ prasave'śvinorbāhubhyāṁ pūṣṇo hastābhyām। ā dade'gnerbhago'si viśāṁ tvā manmanā dadhe'dityā rāsnā'diteḥ śarma mahiṣasya yakṛt।

अनुवाद: By the impulse of Savitṛ the divine, by the arms of the two Aśvins, by the hands of Pūṣan, I take thee. Thou art the glory of Agni. With the thought of the people I place thee, bound by the girdle of Aditi, the shelter of Aditi, the liver of the mighty one.

The priest reaches out to touch and gather the sacrificial material, acknowledging that the act is performed under the divine inspiration of cosmic deities like Savitṛ, Aśvins, and Pūṣan.

मन्त्र 2

आपो देवीरुपह्वयामहे यसु क्षयथ जीवसे। उरु शंसं न ऊर्जम्।

āpo devīruphayāmahe yasu kṣayatha jīvase। uru śaṁsaṁ na ūrjam।

अनुवाद: We invoke the divine Waters, in whom you dwell for life. Grant us abundant vigor and glorious sustenance.

A direct prayer to the divine waters, recognizing them not merely as physical liquid, but as celestial life-givers that sustain vitality and spiritual growth.
