Rigveda Mandala 2 Sukta 21

मन्त्र 1

यः जातः एव प्रथमो मनस्वान् देवो देवान् क्रतुना पर्यभूषत् । यस्य शुष्माद् रोदसी अभ्यसेतां नृमस्य महिना ते जन्यासः ॥

yaḥ jātaḥ eva prathamo manasvān devo devān kratunā paryabhūṣat । yasya śuṣmād rodasī abhyasetāṃ nṛmasya mahinā te janyāsaḥ ॥

अनुवाद: Who, born first, wise, divine, encompassed the gods by his power; whose might heaven and earth trembled before, through the greatness of his heroism, O people, he is Indra.

Indra is extolled as the primeval and supreme divine force who outshines all others through his supreme consciousness and dynamic power.

मन्त्र 2

तं सुन्वन्तं अवसे हवामहे क्षयन्तमस्य रोधसी इयर्तीति । स वृत्रहा शूरः हन्त्योषधीः पर्वतान् विश्वा जनुषा वि वृश्चति ॥

taṃ sunvantaṃ avase havāmahe kṣayantasmasya rodhasī iyartīti । sa vṛtrahā śūraḥ hantyoṣadhīḥ parvatān viśvā januṣā vi vṛścati ॥

अनुवाद: Him we invoke for help who presses the Soma; who rules over these two worlds. That hero, the slayer of Vritra, strikes down obstacles and by his birth cleaves all mountains.

The devotee calls upon Indra, the vanquisher of resistance, who shatters all obstructions that block human progress.
