Yajurveda · Adhyāya 2 — Agnyādhāna & Sacrificial Utensils

Agni's Protective Grace and Maintenance of the Sacrificial Fire

मन्त्र 1

अग्ने व्रतपते व्रतमुपयामि व्रतमिदं करिष्यामि तच्छकेयं तन्मे राध्यतामिदमहमृतातसत्यमुपैमि

agne vratapate vratamupayāmi vratamidaṃ kariṣyāmi tacchakeyaṃ tanme rādhyatāmidamahamṛtātasatyamupaimi

अनुवाद: O Agni, Lord of sacred vows, I approach the vow; I shall perform this vow. May I be capable of it, may that succeed for me. From falsehood I enter into truth.

The seeker invokes Agni, the master of spiritual discipline, to gain the inner strength needed to successfully complete sacred undertakings and transition from untruth to truth.

मन्त्र 2

समिधा अग्निं दुवस्यत घृतैर्बोधयत अतिथिम् । आस्मिन् हव्या जुहोतन ॥

samidhā agniṃ duvasyata ghṛtairbodhayata atithim | āsmin havyā juhotana ||

अनुवाद: Serve Agni with fuel, waken the guest with oblations of clarified butter. Offer your oblations into Him.

This mantra instructs the practitioner on the physical and spiritual mechanics of worship—feeding the inner fire with pure thoughts (fuel) and devotion (ghee).
