Agni Sūkta - Rigveda Maṇḍala 6, Sūkta 2

मन्त्र 1

त्वं ह्यग्ने प्रथमो मनोजाः आहुतो वहसि जातवेदाः । त्वं होता मन्द्रतमः शुचिष्मद् विश्वा विदद्वसुर्विप्रः सुजातः ॥

tvaṁ hy agne prathamo manojāḥ āhuto vahasi jātavedāḥ | tvaṁ hotā mandratamaḥ śuciṣmad viśvā vidadvasurvipraḥ sujātaḥ ||

अनुवाद: For thou, O Agni, first-born, born of mind, invoked, carriest the oblation, O Jātavedas; Thou art the Hotṛ, most rapturous, dwelling in purity, wise, finder of all wealth, well-born.

Agni is acknowledged as the primeval divine presence born of the supreme cosmic mind, acting as the divine priest who perfectly delivers human prayers and offerings to the gods.

मन्त्र 2

तमा हुवै महतो जातवेदसो महो महीभिरूतिभिः सपर्यन् । स नो अग्निः सुश्रवाः सुवीरः स्वश्व्यो भवतु गोभिः अश्वैः ॥

tam ā huvai mahato jātavedaso maho mahībhirūtibhiḥ saparyan | sa no agniḥ suśravāḥ suvīraḥ svaśvyo bhavatu gobhiḥ aśvaiḥ ||

अनुवाद: Him I invoke, the great Jātavedas, honoring him with mighty and vast protections. May that Agni, famed, blessed with heroes, rich in good horses and cows, be gracious unto us.

The ṛṣi calls upon the great deity Agni with profound reverence, praying for abundant spiritual and material prosperity, strength, and noble progeny.
