Agni as the Divine Priest and Leader

मन्त्र 1

अग्निं न मन्ये समिधा युञ्जानो होता कविर्गेहपतिर्न सूनुः । आ हुवन्तमव सेदन्तमेतं जातवेदसं मनुषो नि शेदुः ॥

agniṃ na manye samidhā yuñjāno hotā kavirgehapatirna sūnuḥ । ā huvantamava sedantametaṃ jātavedasaṃ manuṣo ni śeduḥ ॥

अनुवाद: Joining fire with fuel, I think of Agni not merely as fire, but as the invoking priest, the seer, the master of the house, like a son. Men have seated this Jatavedas close, calling upon him and causing him to sit down for protection.

The Rishi recognizes Agni as the ultimate spiritual guide and protector of humanity, establishing the sacred fire for ritual and inner illumination.

मन्त्र 2

त्वमग्ने यज्ञियानां दुरोणे होता धायाः कविर्विश्वविद्वान् । स सूनुः सत्यमृताय सत्यः परि पातु विशो अग्ने त्वं नः ॥

tvamagne yajñiyānāṃ duroṇe hotā dhāyāḥ kavirviśvavidvān . sa sūnuḥ satyamṛtāya satyaḥ pari pātu viśo agne tvaṃ naḥ ॥

अनुवाद: O Agni, in the homes of those worthy of sacrifice, thou art the established invoking priest, the seer, all-knowing. May that true son, true to the cosmic order, protect our peoples, O Agni, thou.

Agni is invoked as the upholder of truth and cosmic order (Rta), guarding the community and ensuring the success of spiritual endeavors.
