Agni Apri Sukta

मन्त्र 1

िध॒यः प्र॑ेष्यामि म॒ध्वो अ॒ग्ने जु॒षाणो॑ या॒ह्युप॒ यज्ज्ञ॑म॒द्य । दे॒वान्दे॒वेषु॒ यज॑तो॒ यजा॑न॒ आ नो॑ गच्छ॒ त्रि॒बर्हिए॒ष्वनू॑दन् ॥

idhiyaḥ preṣyāmi madhvo agne juṣāṇo yāhyupa yajñam adya । devān deveṣu yajato yajāna ā no gaccha tribarhieṣu anūdan ॥

अनुवाद: I send forth my prayers sweetened with honey, O Agni; coming with delight, approach this sacrifice today. As the worshipper, invoke the gods among the gods, and come to us upon the threefold sacred grass.

The Ṛṣi invokes Agni, offering sweet prayers and asking him to bring the divine powers into the inner sacrifice, establishing them on the sacred seat of consciousness.

मन्त्र 2

नरा॒शंसो॒ अभि॒ प्रि॒यो नो॑ अ॒स्मिन्त्सु॒म्ने यज्ञे॒ मधि॑नो मधू॒नाम् । उ॒त नो॑ वा॒चं सु॒दिना॑म॒कार्चीत्प्रा॒चीनो॒ मखः॑ प्र॒थमो॑ यजत्रः ॥

narāśaṃso abhi priyo no asminnt sumne yajñe madhino madhūnām । uta no vācaṃ sudinām akārcīt prācīno makhaḥ prathamo yajatraḥ ॥

अनुवाद: May Narāśaṃsa, dear to us, sweeten this our sacrifice with sweetness in this auspicious joy. And may the foremost, worshipful lord of the rite illumine our luminous speech.

Narāśaṃsa, an aspect of Agni, is praised for rendering the inner sacrifice delightful and purifying human speech into a vehicle of divine expression.
