Rudrasya Stuti - The Hymn to Rudra

ā te pitar-marutāṁ sumnametu mā naḥ sūryasya saṁdṛśo yuyothāḥ | abhi no vīro arvātatu no'dyāt prajābhyāmasyāma patayo vanema ||

O Father of the Maruts, may thy grace reach us; separate us not from the vision of the sun. May our hero protect us and reach us, and may we be lords of progeny and win in battle.

The rishi prays to Lord Rudra, recognizing him as the ultimate father figure who holds the powers of the storm and healing. He begs not to be deprived of light and spiritual vitality.

bhūri-hidānāḥ śaṁsyasya mā no hiṁsīr-jyātivido na rudra | vi bodhyasmantsumanā bhūdhyādhi voceṣma nṛmate jātavedāḥ ||

O Rudra, though we have often provoked your wrath, do not harm us as we know your praise. Awaken to us, be gracious to us, and let us speak powerful words before you.

An acknowledgment of human fallibility and past transgressions against cosmic order. The worshipper surrenders to Rudra, pleading for mercy and a benevolent disposition.
