Āditya Sūkta

imaṃ stomamarhate jātavese rathamiva saṃ mahe dīmahi manīṣā | bhadrā hi naḥ pra matirabhyapṛkṣadditeḥ putrā aditiḥ śaṃsamavyātū ||

We fashion this praise-offering with our mind to the worthy Jātavedas, like crafting a chariot. Auspicious thought has indeed approached us; may the sons of Diti, Aditi, protect our invocation.

The ṛṣi compares the composition of a sacred prayer to the careful carpentry of a chariot, offering it to the luminous deities who maintain cosmic truth and safeguard human aspiration.

viśve yābhirdidhiṣanto manīṣāmādityāso vratapā rakṣapānaḥ | adabdhāso dhariṇo viśvavāirviśvā pāntyanṛtā dveṣasyāt ||

May all the Ādityas, guardians of sacred laws and protectors, holding our mind's prayer, unassailable, sustainers of all things desirable, protect us from falsehood and malice.

The Ādityas stand firm as guardians of cosmic order (vratapāḥ), shielding the seeker from untruth, deceit, and inner hostility.
