Rigveda Mandala 2 Sukta 23 (Brahmanaspati Sukta)

gaṇānāṁ tvā ganapatiṁ havāmahe kaviṁ kavīnāmupamamaśravastamam । jyeṣṭharājaṁ brahmaṇāṁ brahmaṇaspata ā naḥ śṛṇvannūtibhiḥ sīda sādanam ॥

We invoke thee, the Lord of hosts, the poet among poets, the most renowned of listeners, the elder king of prayers, O Brahmanaspati. Hearing us with your protections, sit down in our seat.

The Rishi invokes Brahmanaspati as the supreme leader of all energies and words, requesting His presence at the inner sacrifice of the heart.

Without Thee, no sacrifice is performed or grows, not even that of a wise man through action. He nourishes all, rich in streams, and settles in the abodes like a welcome guest or a chariot.

No spiritual effort or ritual can succeed without the grace of Brahmanaspati, who sustains all seekers.
