अग्निहोत्रं जुहोमि मनसा घृतेन प्रजां पशून् यजमानस्य पाहि। स्वाहा॥
agnihotraṃ juhomi manasā ghṛtena prajāṃ paśūn yajamānasya pāhi। svāhā॥
अनुवाद: I offer the Agnihotra sacrifice with mind and ghee; protect the progeny and cattle of the sacrificer. Svaha.
The priest mentally and physically offers oblations into the sacred fire, invoking divine protection for the family, livestock, and spiritual wealth of the host of the sacrifice.
अयं ते योनिऋत्वियो यतो जातो अरोचथाः। तं जानन्नग्न आरोह्या नो वर्धया रयिम्॥
ayaṃ te yoniṛtviyo yato jāto arocathāḥ। taṃ jānannagna ārohyā no vardhayā rayim॥
अनुवाद: This is thy proper season-born womb from which thou wast born and didst shine. Knowing this, O Agni, ascend it and increase our wealth.
Agni is reminded of his divine origin and correct placement in the ritual altar so that he may blaze forth with full splendor and bestow spiritual and material prosperity upon the worshippers.
