Yajurveda · Adhyāya 2 — Agnyādhāna & Sacrificial Utensils

Pratisthesha: Establishing Peace and Protection

mā nō mahāntamuta mā na arbhakaṁ mā na ukṣantamuta mā na ukṣitam | mā nō vadhīḥ pitaraṁ mōta mātaraṁ priyā mā nastanuvō rudra rīriṣaḥ ||

अनुवाद: Do not harm our great ones, nor our small ones, neither the growing youth nor the child in the womb. Do not strike our father or our mother, nor injure, O Rudra, our own dear bodies.

The worshipper prays to Rudra, the fierce and compassionate deity, asking for the protection of all members of the family and society across all ages, from infants to elders, acknowledging Him as both the source of trial and ultimate refuge.

mā nastōkē tanayē mā na āyuṣi mā nō gōṣu mā nō aśvēṣu rīriṣaḥ | vīrānmā nō rudra bhāmitō vadhīrhaviṣmantaḥ sadama tvā havāmahē ||

अनुवाद: Do not harm our children and descendants, nor our life-span, nor our cows, nor our horses. Do not slay our heroes in your anger, O Rudra; carrying oblations, we ever call upon You.

This mantra continues the plea for preservation, extending it to livelihood, livestock, and valorous companions. It expresses the devotee's constant reliance on the Divine through offerings and devotion.
