Yajurveda · Adhyāya 2 — Agnyādhāna & Sacrificial Utensils

Agni's Protective Consecration

imáṃ stómam arhate jātavedase ratháṃ ná samāmahé nayāmasi । bhadrā hi naḥ pragatayaḥ saṅgamane ca kṛṣave ॥

To the worthy Jātavedas, we offer and fashion this praise like a chariot. Auspicious indeed are our approaches to him at the gathering of the energetic one.

The seeker crafts a hymn of praise with the precision and care of building a chariot, directing it toward Agni, the knower of all births, ensuring spiritual progress.

agniṃ hotāraṃ manyamānaḥ pañcadhā vidatheṣvā karoti samṛdho rājñaḥ ॥

Recognizing Agni as the invoking priest, he establishes him fivefold in the sacrificial gatherings, bringing prosperity to the king.

By acknowledging Agni in his manifold roles across sacrificial arenas, the sacrificer aligns with divine energies that sustain leadership and communal prosperity.
