Yajurveda Adhyāya 1, Section 28 - Preparation of the Sacrificial Waters and Altar

मन्त्र 1

देवू वः सविता मधुमत्या धिया सिञ्चतु यज्ञाय यज्ञपत्तये।

devū vaḥ savitā madhumatyā dhiyā siñcatu yajñāya yajñapattaye।

अनुवाद: May Savitṛ, the divine impeller, sprinkle you with sweet-flowing intellect for the sake of the sacrifice and the lord of the sacrifice.

The priest invokes the deity Savitṛ to bless the waters with divine sweetness and clarity, preparing them for sacred ritual use.

मन्त्र 2

अजिघ्रदग्निः समिधा पुरोळेशाँ अकृणुत।

ajighradagniḥ samidhā puroḷeśāṁ akṛṇuta।

अनुवाद: Agni has accepted the fragrance through the fuel and has fashioned the sacrificial cakes.

Agni transforms the oblations offered with fuel, accepting the essence of the sacrifice and rendering it fit for divine consumption.
