Agni Sūkta - Maṇḍala 5, Sūkta 3

मन्त्र 1

अग्निं होतारं मन्ये दाशुषो गृहपतिममृतं जातवेदसम् ।

agniṃ hotāraṃ manye dāśuṣo gṛhapatimamṛtaṃ jātavedasam ।

अनुवाद: I recognize Agni as the invoking priest of the worshipper, the lord of the house, the immortal, the knower of all births.

The ṛṣi acknowledges Agni not just as an external fire, but as the inner divine consciousness that presides over the household of the human body.

मन्त्र 2

स हि क्षपाभिरुथ्य आ महो दिवो दूतश्च दध्रे हव्यवाहनः ।

sa hi kṣapābhiruthya ā maho divo dūtaś ca dadhre havyavāhanaḥ ।

अनुवाद: He indeed, rising through the nights from the great heaven, has been established as the messenger, the carrier of oblations.

Agni connects the earthly domain with the celestial realms by carrying human prayers upward like smoke.
