Agni - The Divine Flame of Sacrifice

मन्त्र 1

होतारं त्वा वृणीमहे होतारं विश्वचेतसम् । अग्निं यज्ञेषु पूर्वमक्ष्णन्मनुष्याः ॥

hōtāraṁ tvā vṛṇīmahē hōtāraṁ viśvacētasam । agniṁ yajñēṣu pūrvamakṣṇanmanuṣyāḥ ॥

अनुवाद: We choose thee as the Hotar, the Hotar cognizant of all. Agni, whom men of old have kindled in the sacrifices.

The rishi invites Agni, the conscious divine priest, recognizing that the ancient seekers also kindled this inner flame of divine awareness during their spiritual journeys.

मन्त्र 2

समिधानो य आहुतोऽग्निः श्वेतस्य वर्धते । तमिद्धो हव्यवाहनं देवा जुह्वति होतृभिः ॥

samidhānō ya āhutō'gniḥ śvētasya vardhatē । tamiddhō havyavāhanaṁ dēvā juhvati hōtṛbhiḥ ॥

अनुवाद: He who is kindled and offered into, Agni grows radiant. The gods invoke him, the bearer of oblations, when he is ablaze.

When the inner sacrifice is fed with pure thoughts and offerings, the divine fire grows brighter, serving as the carrier of our prayers to the higher realms.
