Indra Sukta - Rigveda Mandala 2 Sukta 16

मन्त्र 1

यः जातः एव प्रथमो मनस्वान् देवो देवान् क्रतुना पर्यभूषत् । यस्य शुष्कात् रोदसी अभ्यसेतां नृम्णस्य मह्ना तः जनास इन्द्रः ॥

yaḥ jātaḥ eva prathamo manasvān devo devān kratunā paryabhūṣat । yasya śuṣkāt rodasī abhyasetāṃ nṛmnasya mahnā taḥ janāsa indraḥ ॥

अनुवाद: He who, born first, full of mind, the divine one, surpassed the gods with his power; he by whose greatness of strength the two worlds trembled—that, O men, is Indra.

Indra is described as the supreme primal consciousness who surpasses all through his divine will and whose majesty shakes heaven and earth.

मन्त्र 2

यो विश्वं प्रब्वणः शमयति हन्ति वृत्रं वि दधाति स्रतीः । यः शक्रस्य शुष्मं कुरुते स्वपस्यां सः जनास इन्द्रः ॥

yo viśvaṃ prabvaṇaḥ śamayati hanti vṛtraṃ vi dadhāti sratīḥ । yaḥ śakrasya śuṣmaṃ kurute svapasyāṃ saḥ janāsa indraḥ ॥

अनुवाद: He who subdues all disturbance, slays Vrtra, and sets free the flowing waters; he who makes the mighty energy of the powerful one his own work—that, O men, is Indra.

This mantra celebrates Indra as the conqueror of resistance (Vrtra) who releases the waters of life and displays dynamic divine action.
