In this act, the seeker undertakes a solemn vow before Agni, invoking the divine energy required to shed falsehood and embrace the absolute truth. The verses expand upon how fundamental cosmic realities like Ṛta and Satya manifest from the primordial heat of creation. The progression from personal discipline to cosmic creation emphasizes the interconnectedness of human spiritual striving with the wider universe.
Verse 1: O Agni, Lord of vows, I embrace your truth.
Sāyaṇa interprets 'vratam' primarily as ritual sacrifice and moral duty, whereas Sri Aurobindo sees it as the dynamic divine will operating within human consciousness.
