अग्नये त्वा जुष्टं निर्वपामि देवयते त्वा जुष्टं निर्वपामि
agnaye tvā juṣṭaṃ nirvapāmi devayate tvā juṣṭaṃ nirvapāmi
Verses 1, 2
अग्नये त्वा जुष्टं निर्वपामि देवयते त्वा जुष्टं निर्वपामि
agnaye tvā juṣṭaṃ nirvapāmi devayate tvā juṣṭaṃ nirvapāmi
देवस्त्वा सविता प्रार्पयतु श्रेष्ठतमाय कर्मणे
devastvā savitā prārpayatu śreṣṭhatamāya karmaṇe
In these verses, the ritual act of offering grain or butter is elevated into a psychological and spiritual dedication. The seeker acknowledges that all material and mental offerings are meant for the divine fire within and guided by the supreme impulse of the creator.
Verse 1: To Agni you are acceptable, I offer you.
Sāyaṇa interprets this purely through ritual mechanics, whereas Sri Aurobindo sees Agni as the inner flame of aspiration and Savitr as the divine creator empowering the soul.
| Devanāgarī | IAST | Translation |
|---|---|---|
| अग्नये | agnaye | to Agni (the divine fire) |
| त्वा | tvā | you |
| जुष्टम् | juṣṭam | acceptable / pleasing |
Remember Agni as the receiver and Savitr as the impeller of noble acts.
