Verses 1, 2
इषे त्वा ऊर्जे त्वा वायवः स्थ देवो वः सविता प्रार्पयतु श्रेष्ठतमाय कर्मणः।
iṣe tvā ūrje tvā vāyavaḥ stha devo vaḥ savitā prārpayatu śreṣṭhatamāya karmaṇaḥ।
आ प्यायध्वं घृतमन्वैनं प्रजतया सह देव भागमूर्जस्वतीः।
ā pyāyadhvaṃ ghṛtamanvainaṃ prajatayā saha deva bhāgamūrjasvatīḥ।
The opening act focuses on the spiritual empowerment of the ritual implements. Before any sacred action can take place, the tools must be elevated from mundane matter to divine instruments. By addressing the implements as vital breaths and invoking Savitr, the solar deity of impulsion, the sacrificer aligns human action with the cosmic rhythm of creation.
Verse 1: For vigor I take you, O vital winds, directed by Savitr.
Literally referring to cutting branches and preparing ritual items, while symbolically representing the purification of the mind and pranas for inner sacrifice.
